Local residents and campaigners are deeply disappointed that the Surrey County Council Planning and Regulatory Committee has given planning permission for four more oil wells and 20 years oil drilling at Horse Hill.
We feel that there is a strong case for a legal challenge of the decision – because the Committee did not consider all the evidence that was submitted, and based their decisions on out-of-date policies.
A team of leading environmental lawyers has offered to help the Weald Action Group challenge this by applying for a Judicial Review. They are examining the evidence now and will advise us on the best way to proceed. We need to raise funds now to cover the lawyers’ fees.
Will you donate now to support the fight against this through the courts, if needed?

If Horse Hill goes ahead it will fund oil expansion across the South East. UK Oil and Gas Ltd has in its sights Dunsfold and Leith Hill in Surrey and Arreton in the Isle of Wight. It would also be able to expand operations at Broadford Bridge in Sussex. Let’s stop it getting off the starting blocks.
Thank you
