Walk the Shale Trail 1 October 2022
October 1, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Local campaigners are organising a walk between two shale oil extraction plants in Surrey (Horse Hill and Brockham), which the current operators are planning to expand. This walk has been planned to raise awareness of these sites and to connect with the local communities.
Meet: 11am at Horse Hill, RH6 0HN. There is no car parking at the beginning of this walk.
Walk: 6.5 miles (10km) linear walk. The first half of the walk involves a lot of stiles and a gentle incline. We will stop for lunch (bring your own) at The Green at Leigh, RH2 8RF, at 1pm. After this the walk is flat and there are no stiles. Please join us at Leigh for a shorter walk.
There will be tea, cakes and talks at Brockham Church Hall at 4pm. Buses run from Brockham to Guildford, Dorking, Reigate and Redhill.
Walkers wishing to take part in the Just Stop Oil action will be taken from Brockham to Dorking station in order to join other activists in Parliament Square, taking with us the story of local ongoing fossil fuel licensing in the Surrey Hills.
There is a train strike on the day. Organisers may be able to arrange lifts from Redhill, Reigate or Dorking. To enquire about lifts or offer to carshare, contact xrreigateandredhill@gmail.com
You have the wrong postcode for Horse Hill. RH2 8PP takes you to Ironsbomttom Reigate. Horse Hill is at RH6 0HN.
Thank you Anne. I have corrected it.
The Google map link goes to the wrong location?
Thank you Peter, I have corrected it.
